A Look at Laser Treatments

Many people begin to repair the damage from the sun in the fall and winter. There are multiple options used to repair age spots, fine lines, wrinkles and hair growth but a top technique is a laser treatment. There are many different types of laser treatments so looking into what would work best for what you’d like to have improved is a key component in your research and choosing process. At Ohio Plastic Surgery Specialists, we utilize a few types of laser treatments.

The first is MicroLaserPeel™ which can be used on the entire body but is most popular for the face and neck. This laser peel improves tone, texture and luminosity by removing a very thin layer off the top of the skin. This top layer often contributes to the tired, aging look of skin. MicroLaserPeel™ can target wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, scars or areas of irregular pigment.

Most patients see a difference in skin texture with the first treatment, however based on your needs, more treatments may be scheduled. Consult with your physician to decide. Depending on the depth of the treatment, a patient may be ready to go back to work in as little as three to four days. This treatment causes little to no pain and you can often see results in as little as three to four days as well.

Rapid Hair Reduction

Rapid hair reduction uses BroadBand Light. BBL can be used for many different treatments. Its various wavelengths can be used for multiple treatments including hair removal. This treatment is mostly used on the face, arms, bikini line, underarms and legs. This light-based technology utilizes pulses of light energy to target and destroy hair follicles and involves very little pain.

Phototherapy also uses BroadBand Light. This treatment targets conditions related to aging, sun damage and acne. The BBL can comfortably treat age spots, freckles, rosacea, small blood vessels, acne scars and more. This treatment is popular on the face, neck, back of hands and chest.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing requires a special kind of laser that improves the overall look of the skin. This treatment is often used for fine lines, deep wrinkles, sun spots and uneven skin tones and texture. Laser resurfacing also uses beams of light to send short, concentrated bursts to the patients affected skin. Damaged skin is removed in thin, precise layers at a time. Some patients have reported immediate results but the results can be seen/improved on over the course of a year. Laser resurfacing’s results often last many years but it can be repeated as necessary due to the process of aging and environmental stress.
