Frequently Asked Questions about Botox® Cosmetic

Frequently Asked Questions about Botox® Cosmetic

Botox® Cosmetic is an injectable product that helps target fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet. Doing things such as frowning or raising your eyebrows can cause the formation of facial lines over time. Botox® Cosmetic works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes these lines and wrinkles to show up.

Botox® Cosmetic is a popular, non-invasive treatment. Here are some of our frequently asked questions and answers to help you plan your treatment!

Will this make me look like I’ve had work done?

Botox® Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment. You should not lose the ability to show expression if you get this treatment done. It is important to talk about the results you would like to see.

Does the treatment hurt?

Since it is an injection, it has been reported that patients have felt a pinch and will be determined by the number of injections you receive (typically three to five) and your pain tolerance. It’s overall an almost painless procedure. If you are concerned about discomfort, your specialist may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

The longest part of the process will be the consultation where Dr. Bernacki will discuss your desired results and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatments for you. The actual injection process takes about 10 minutes.

How long is the recovery time after the treatment?

After your treatment, you can resume your day. There is minimal downtime. You will receive a list of aftercare instructions to follow.

How long will the results last?

You may see results within 24 to 48 hours and results can last up to four months. Since results vary by patient, your surgeon will plan your next appointment based on the severity of your wrinkles or lines and your treatment goals.

Is Botox® Cosmetic for people in a certain age range?

No. Your age does not determine the way your skin ages or the way you feel about your skin. Many people in their early 30s have been getting Botox® in recent years. Whenever your lines start to bother you, schedule your consultation, and let us help you figure out if treatment is right for you.
