Plastic Surgeon about Liposuction

Questions to ask your Plastic Surgeon about Liposuction

There are many people that are unhappy with their lower abdominal section and unfortunately, diet and exercise simply is not enough. That is when many people consider getting some type of procedure done to fix this area. Liposuction was the second most popular procedure performed in the United States in 2016. Liposuction is sought after for many reasons. This procedure can provide individually-tailored body sculpting results that will last for years to come. It is a minimally invasive technique that is done on an outpatient basis and requires only a few days’ recovery. When you are at your consultation for a liposuction procedure, make sure to ask these questions:

Are you a board certified plastic surgeon?

Dr. Bernacki at Ohio Plastic Surgery Specialists is a board certified plastic surgeon. He has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry and can discuss his past procedures, show examples and do whatever they can to gain your full and complete trust. Before your visit, learn more our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Walter Bernacki.

Where will the procedure be performed?

Liposuction is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning you will be home resting the same day, no overnight required. Before the surgery, the doctor will explain where the procedure is going to take place and the post-op instructions. You will need to arrange transportation home from the procedure. Our board-certified plastic surgeon will go over at length pre-op and post-op instructions. We are here to answer any and every question that you may have.

Will the results be permanent?

One of the reasons liposuction is such a sought-after procedure is due to the fact that once the fat cells are removed, they do not return. Please be aware that the surrounding fatty tissue can still expand with future weight gain. Changes can be expected in your body over the following years that may cause fat accumulation including normal aging, weight gain, and pregnancy. Ask your surgeon how to best maintain your liposuction results for the long-term. Our surgeons will offer advice on retaining your desired physical contours and explain the chances of needing a repeat treatment in the future.
