Why are Laser Treatments More Popular in the Winter?

Laser

If you’re looking for a way to make your skin look more youthful, repair sun damage or remove unwanted hair, a laser treatment may be exactly what you’re looking for. As we enter the winter months, we see an increase in laser treatments but why? A laser treatment cannot be used on skin that is sunburnt and skin that is tanned is often resistant to hair removal and sun damage repair which is why people choose these off months to work on those repairs.

Additionally, after a laser treatment, the sensitivity of skin varies from person to person so it is advised to avoid sun exposure, hot showers or UV exposure. By having the treatments done in the winter or early spring, the chances of avoiding UV rays is higher which means better results from the laser.

Depending on what type of damage your skin has, will depend on which type of treatment you will want to have. The MicroLaserPeel™ is a laser peel that precisely removes a thin layer of skin which provides excellent results because of the precision of depth the treatment is administered. This treatment is performed in-office and will improve the patient’s skin texture, tone and luminosity. The face and neck are most popular but almost all areas of skin can be treated. Depending on the depth of the treatment, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work in three to four days. As a result of only the outer layer of the skin being treated, most patients notice obvious improvements in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals.

Laser Resurfacing is another service and can treat fine lines, deep wrinkles, sun spots and uneven skin tones and texture. Laser resurfacing is all about using beams of light. The laser sends short, concentrated, pulsating beams of light to irregular skin. This removes unwanted, damaged skin one layer at a time. Sometimes results are immediate but skin continues to improve for up to a year. While the effects of laser resurfacing can last for many years, the normal aging process means that wrinkles and expression lines will reoccur and repeat treatments may be necessary.

Rapid Hair Reduction uses BroadBand Light (BBL) for unwanted body hair. This light-based technology utilizes pulses of light energy to target and destroy hair follicles and can be used on any part of the body including face, legs, arms and neck.

Phototheraphy can treat skin conditions associated with aging, sun damage, and acne. The BroadBand light treatment can treat skin defects such as age spots, freckles, rosacea, small blood vessels, acne scars and much more. The most popular treatment areas are the face, neck, back of hands, chest and shoulders.
